How industry leaders tackle the power of cloud

Businesses today want to be more efficient, innovate faster and achieve better outcomes. To achieve all this, businesses are investing in the cloud. As digital transformations are becoming essential, organizations are shifting to the cloud to enable new business models, become agile and fuel success.

Almost every business across industries is starting its journey to the cloud. This enables the business to accelerate, innovate and digitize processes and interactions that differentiate industry leaders from the pack.

Let’s take a look at some industry leaders who are making the most of the power of the cloud.

1. Domino’s uses its 16 digital ordering channels and flexible cloud to deliver

Almost a decade earlier, pizza companies were not investing in digital transformations. Domino’s Pizza was definitely an early adopter of digital channels, cloud computing and emerging technologies. With a strategic decision to cloud migration, Domino’s moved all of its core systems like the digital ordering system, ERP (enterprise resource planning), back-office operations and even supply chain systems to the cloud.

This has enabled Domino’s to increase their operational efficiency and lower costs. An important factor in their success has been reimagining the ordering and delivery process, providing customers with digital options that are convenient and hassle-free. Domino’s has 16 different ordering channels that range from smart TVs and watches to mobile phone apps, social media, Amazon Echo and even Google Home Devices. All of these collectively generates 65% of sales in the United States.

2. McLaren Racing leverages a hybrid cloud infrastructure to accelerate race-car

McLaren was founded in 1963 and has since then won many victories from 20 World Championships to 182 Grand Prix and 3 Indy 500s. This level of success reveals an intense desire for innovation and high performance.

To put it into perspective, 18,000 parts of McLaren’s Formula 1 car change every six weeks. This means that 80% of the racing car will be different by the end of the season. What’s more, is that McLaren creates its strategy in real-time from the car’s 300 sensors while adjusting for tire conditions to weather changes.

To combine reality with the need for instantaneous insights, the brand relies on a hybrid cloud infrastructure. Yet managing such a tremendous volume of data across on-premises and cloud environments also create a high degree of complexity when teams need to access insights at a millisecond’s notice. However, such a system gives McLaren the ability to ingest data quickly and gives more reliable access to secure data.

3. The U.S. Census Bureau’s digital and cloud transformation has unlocked new opportunities.

The U.S. Census Bureau aims at being a leading provider of quality data about its people and economy. Every ten years, the Census Bureau provides a complete and accurate count of the population and housing in the entire United States. This formation is provided to the federal government to shape public policy, distribute more than $675 billion in funding and redraw the political map for the next decade.

However, as America’s expectations and preferences have evolved throughout the years, the Census Bureau has transformed to better fulfil its vision. The 2020 Census was the country’s first-ever digital decennial census. With digitization and cloud technologies, the Census Bureau has increased efficiency across its operations in multiple ways. These efficiencies have advanced the Bureau’s cloud-first strategy, thereby enabling teams to evaluate which components of the Bureau can be migrated to the cloud.

Conclusion

These industry leaders clearly show that business strategy can fuel rapid innovation and help your organization in continued success. With the right strategy to support your cloud strategy, you can help your teams manage digital complexities and turn data into actionable insights!
